Our host families
Make the experience of your life and stay in a Mayan family. In order for you to make the most progress in your Spanish language skills, our school offers the opportunity to live with a local family in San Pedro. You will be able to practice your Spanish at home while experiencing the life and culture of a local Guatemalan family. Daily interactions with your family help make your experience unforgettable!
All of our homestays offer accommodations seven nights a week, a private room, internet, and filtered water.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided five days a week, Monday thru Friday. Saturday and Sunday are the family's typical days of rest and thus food is not included. Our families can also cater to vegetarians and other special dietary restrictions, just let us know in advance.

I have traveled to San Pedro many times and I stayed in a Mayan family too. This was a great and funny experience. The food was always great, especially one time: My host mom wanted to cook something really amazing for me. She thought that we Germans always like sausages and green beans. When she prepared the meal, she used garlic. But not only a little bit, she put a whole garlic bulb in there. Wow, that was an experience which I will never forget. But beside of this funny story, the meals were A+ and the private room was clean and neat. Imagine that to stay in a family means to learn everyday something new from the Mayan people. But if you want to have your time-out that is also no problem.

WHERE TO STAY IN SAN PEDRO?
Almost all our students choose to live with a local family during their first weeks of learning Spanish. The families are carefully selected.
Living with a family is an excellent way to practice the language and learn different aspects of Mayan culture. Besides the hospitality, you will have an opportunity to learn Spanish quickly outside of school and to discover and enjoy the secrets of typical Guatemalan food. All home stays are located near the school.
PRICING FOR HOMESTAYS
Q930/week - A Host Family with shared bath. 7 days accommodation with three meals per day, except Saturdays and Sundays.
Q1080/week - A Host Family with private bath. 7 days accommodation with three meals per day, except Saturdays and Sundays.
Your Home Stay is guaranteed. If things don't work out with your first family, we will relocate you with another so you can attain your goal of learning Spanish rapidly in an atmosphere suitable for your needs.
HOTELS AND HOSTELS
The school can also reserve a room in a hotel or hostel if you prefer. Accommodation near the school are available for all budgets and needs. If you require a reservation, we recommend that you make it at least two weeks before your classes begin, especially during high season.
APARTMENTS
If you want to rent an apartment solely for your own use, we can find one that fits your needs. There is a one-month minimum. To reserve an apartment, we suggest making your reservation at least one month before your classes begin.
